Croatian President: BiH is one of the highest Priorities of Croatia

President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, stated that BiH is among the highest priorities of the state authorities of the Republic of Croatia.

“My honest wish is to increase the interest of the international community in the South-eastern part of Europe, especially BiH, and to provide assistance in building BiH as a modern European country for all of its citizens. I would like to note the term all of its citizens, because we respect the principle of the equality of its three constituent peoples and members of other communities in everything that the Republic of Croatia and its representatives do,” stated the President of Croatia.

According to her, the interest of the Republic of Croatia in BiH should not be surprising for anyone, because it is more than logical considering the length of the border, geographic orientation, historical and other connections, as well as the constitutional obligation of care for Croats that are living in BiH.

She also stated that BiH will continue enjoying unlimited support from the Republic of Croatia on its path towards the membership in the EU:

“You can be sure that we will continue supporting BiH on its path to the EU and within the complex process of reforms with the aim of fulfilling the conditions, since our opinion is that the European integration process is the best framework for further democratization and permanent stabilization of our neighbouring and friendly country, as well as the realization of all of its capabilities, especially economic ones, with which the conditions for the well-being of all of its citizens would be ensured.

She also talked about the current topic of increased number of illegal migrants, and she stated that the Republic of Croatia is ready to put its police officers on the disposal to BiH on the coordination point at the border crossing Mali Zvornik (border between BiH and the Republic of Serbia) through FRONTEX.
