Cvijanovic: BiH is constantly in crisis due to Attacks on the Dayton Agreement

Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željka Cvijanović stated that it would be good if the Dayton Peace Agreement had been given a chance to live in its full capacity, as it was written, because it would mean that BiH is an organized society that can build an internal dialogue, but unfortunately, as he states, in the previous period it underwent various modifications and BiH is constantly in crisis precisely because of the attack on that agreement.

“Through all the years, we have seen what happened with the Dayton Peace Agreement, and that today it is defended by those who contributed the most to its distortion, and that the spirit, not the letter, of that agreement is being pursued,” Cvijanović told reporters.

She assessed that this is precisely why Bosnia and Herzegovina is in a “pretty big mess” today.

“What else can we say when you have a man who presents himself as a high representative, and when you look at Annex 10 and who can be in that position, and the fact that he did not go through that procedure and refers to the Dayton Peace Agreement, so he threatens to to sanction someone because he does not respect that agreement,” said Cvijanović.

According to her, if what was done in the previous period had not been done with the Dayton Peace Agreement with various modifications, Bosnia and Herzegovina would have been a successful society that could build an internal dialogue, come to an agreement, and not depend on whether someone would knock on the door of an embassy and to hear some ambassador, who is a passing category here – to tell him what he should do.

Cvijanović assessed that Bosnia and Herzegovina is where it is now “because it was collapsed by those who most often refer to Bosnia and Herzegovina and its protection”.

“They didn’t do anything to preserve it, and when I say that, I mean both the foreign and domestic factors,” Cvijanović said on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Agreement, Srna reports.
