Danish Handball Team Clinches Fourth Consecutive World Championship Title

The Danish handball team won its fourth consecutive world championship title with a 32:26 (16:12) victory over Croatia in Oslo tonight.

The World Championship final, played in Croatia, Denmark and Norway, offered, as expected, top-notch handball. However, the Danes once again showed that they are a class ahead of everyone, including the Croatians who played an excellent tournament. After the first 30 minutes, when Denmark gained a 16:12 lead, it was already clear who would lift the trophy in the end.

Denmark opened the second half at an even better pace and soon reached a big ten-point difference (24:14) and settled the question of the winner. Croatia only managed to mitigate the defeat until the end.

The most efficient player in the winning team was Mathias Gidsel with ten goals. On the other side, Ivan Martinović stood out with six goals.

Interestingly, Denmark’s last defeat at the World Cup was in 2017, against Hungary in the round of 16 of the tournament played in France.

Earlier today, France defeated Portugal 35:34 in the bronze medal match.

Aymeric Minne with ten goals and Dylan Nahi with six goals led the French to another medal at the major competition. The most efficient players for the Portuguese were Francisco Costa with eight and Victor Iturriza with seven goals.
