David Holbrooke: Sarajevo meant a lot to my Father Richard

david2David Holbrook, director of the movie “Diplomat” and son of the creator of the Dayton Agreement, Richard Holbrooke, said that during the filming the thing that he learned about his father was the fact that he really believed that peace has to be established in B&H.

“He was very creative. I remember him as a sharp politician through the media, while as a father he was very funny. He was not there a lot, but he liked to play games, watch funny movies and he loved to ski a lot. He was different as a father,” said David.

He said that the screening of this movie is very important because Sarajevo meant a lot to his father.

“I cannot wait to see the reaction of the people in B&H. It is very important that people in the US see how important B&H actually is. The war ended 20 years ago, but there are still things that we can do, to make B&H stronger as the state,” said David.

He added that he especially likes B&H and its capital city, and that he had the opportunity to visit Srebrenica, and his whole family is with him in Sarajevo.

With his enlightening documentary “Diplomat”, David Holbrooke is trying to do what seems as impossible task, to portray the legacy of his impressive father, Ambassador Richard Holbrooke, by traveling across the world in an attempt to provide an inside look at American foreign policy. Holbrooke’s career comprised 50 years of US foreign policy.
