The award Honorary Heart of Sarajevo for lifetime achievement, first award of this kind presented by the famous Sarajevo Film Festival, was presented to the actor Robert De Niro in the Sarajevo cinema Open Air.
“Thank you, Miro. I will appreciate and keep this award because there is no other city in the world that shows its heart and courage despite the tragedy,” the laureate said, adding:
“SFF and Tribeca share a similar philosophy, the power of film and the art that connects us. They emerged in difficult conditions and in the middle of the fight to survive. I am honored to be a part of this mission,” said De Niro.
Director of the SFF Mirsad Purivatra had the honor to present the prestigious award to De Niro.
“Metalac was never this full,” Purivatra noticed. “As in previous ten years or so, the SFF is promoting young, domestic artists. It is our honor to have Alena Džebo with us, an actress who played many roles and is a part of movie and theatre scene. This is your night”.
Purivatra thanked everyone for the trust they gave to the festival.
“Tonight we are in a special celebration atmosphere, we greet one of the greatest talents in the movie industry. A film icon, an artist who inspired us for decades, through all generations – Robert De Niro,” Purivatra said.
The greatest and most representative roles and film scenes that De Niro made during his rich career were shown on screen.
