A truly great tragedy in Serbia, this resonated all over the world, not only in the region and our surroundings, Admir Katica, Minister of the Interior of Sarajevo Canton, said to BHT1 live, commenting on the recent mass murders in the neighborhood.
At the beginning of the conversation, he also recalled similar tragedies that had previously occurred in the area of Sarajevo Canton.
“What we did in the Sarajevo Canton was that we carried out an inventory of what we have done so far, how far we have come in this matter and where we need to go next. We can say that in the last 15 years, as far as juvenile delinquency in the area is concerned, Canton of Sarajevo, we have an articulated preventive activity, especially in those spheres where this potential for deviant behavior is created, and it is created mainly in schools, primary schools in particular. I will remind you, after the tragedies that we had here in Canton of Sarajevo, and relations on the tragedy of Denis Mrnjavac, then the tragedy of Mahir Rakovac, after which a special analysis was carried out. in the area of KS, considering that those regulations define how the teacher behaves in situations when he sees the beginnings of deviant behavior. Possible deviant behavior is determined, an individual care plan is created, and this is actually a way to get to the root of this problem, so that the police, as is the case in Serbia, does not identify certain situations.”
The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, announced an audit of all users who have a firearms license. According to Katica, owning a legal weapon is actually desirable, instead of having it illegally.
“Whoever has a desire, a need, for some legal reasons, primarily for reasons of safety, for some activity or inheritance, people submit these requests to possess weapons. Weapons do not kill, people do. It is as if we are looking at a knife that serves for good purposes, but can, unfortunately, be used to kill someone. Weapons should not be brought into the center of attention, but a person, a child, and certain problems should be solved there. he must be at least 21 years old… It is a procedure that allows security in this process.”
The scope of criminal offenses in the area of Sarajevo Canton is decreasing.
“That’s a good fact. It’s also a good one concerning property crimes. Here I’m focusing especially on what ‘suffered’ the citizens of Sarajevo, namely robberies, robberies, aggravated theft, theft of mobile phones, purses on a particularly brazen way. Those criminal acts are decreasing, which is very good,” claimed Katica, among other things, in an interview with BHRT.
