Decrease in Number of Thefts in Canton Sarajevo

Admir Katica, the Minister of the Interior of Canton Sarajevo expressed satisfaction that the cases of aggravated theft and robbery were largely borne out by the appeals from the police to the prosecutor’s offices that the measure of detention be determined as much as possible for returnees.

“This reduces the phenomenon that we often point out that the same people constantly commit the same crimes. When they do not end up on the other side of the bars, they return to crime and most often commit property crimes, which are the most numerous,” said Katica on Facebook.

As he explained, the measure of detention is not a sanction, but ensuring the presence of the accused in the criminal proceedings so that he would not escape or commit a crime again …

“It often happened that the police discovered him, investigated him, handed him over to the competent prosecutor and did not order his detention. It turned out that the best response of the judiciary is to order detention for such perpetrators and that they receive an adequate sanction to resocialize them, to be constantly in the records of returnees in committing criminal acts “, concluded Minister Katica.
