Delegation of the Bulgarian Government visited EUFOR Headquarters

On 26th October a delegation of the Bulgarian government headed by the Prime Minister Mr. Boyko Borissov visited Headquarters of the European Union Force (HQ EUFOR) in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo for the first time. He was accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister for Public Order and Security and Minister of Defence Mr. Krasimir Karakachanov, Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Tomislav Donchev, Head of the Prime Minister’s Political Cabinet Mrs. Rumiana Bachvarova and Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Bosnia Herzegovina Mrs. Avgustina Tzvetkova-Karabascheva. The delegation was welcomed by Commander EUFOR, Major General Anton Waldner with an Honour Guard made up of two platoons of Turkish soldiers from the EUFOR Multinational Battalion (MNBN) under the command of Command Sgt. Maj. Lajos Soós.

After the ceremony COM EUFOR and Prime Minister Borissov with his delegation had a meeting about the current situation in BiH.

Bulgaria holds many important positions within the EUFOR Althea Operation. The EU-led operation is made up of 600 soldiers from 19 troop contributing nations.
