Deputy Minister of FA met with the Head of the EU Delegation to BiH

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Josip Brkić met today with the head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the special representative of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ambassador Johann Sattler, and the ambassadors of the EU member states in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting was organized in the context of support for the proposed resolution that will be on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly on the eve of the first anniversary of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.

It is a proposal for a resolution entitled “Principles on which a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine is based” in accordance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, in which, among other things, it is reminded of the obligation of all states to refrain in their international relations from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.

It was also pointed out that after a year since the Russian aggression against Ukraine, the achievement of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace would represent a significant contribution to the strengthening of international peace and security.

Deputy Minister Brkić emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a country that went through a war that left deep scars, feels full sympathy, deep empathy and solidarity with the people of Ukraine.

He pointed out that BiH, according to the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA), but also according to the current Strategy for Foreign Policy, adopted by the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is obliged to join the positions of the EU.

He assessed that such a policy of joining the views and decisions of the EU is particularly important for BiH after obtaining the status of a candidate for membership in the European Union, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH announced.
