Five-year-old girl Sajra Smajlovic from Zenica, who has been battling a malignant liver tumor for some time, has lost the battle for life on Wednesday.

“We are saddened to announce that our little Sajra died, our little fighter has lost the battle for life, our little angel has left us,” the girl’s aunt wrote on Facebook.

The girl’s family announced late last year that they needed funding to continue treatment in Turkey, where 40 percent of tumors were removed from the liver during surgery.

The remedies for the treatment of little Sajra were collected with the help of the organization “Pomozi.ba”.

Despite all the efforts and donations of the citizens, Sajra did not survive.
