In Abu Dhabi a Memorandum on cooperation between the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the UAE and the Memorandum on understanding between the BiH Council of Ministers and the UAE government on cooperation in the area of higher education and scientific research was signed yesterday.

The signatories were Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and the BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Zlatko Lagumdžija and the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheik Abdulah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The first Memorandum regulates closer cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the introduction of regular bilateral meetings, with the goal to monitor all of the conclusions and agreements reached during the successful visit of Minister Lagumdžija and more than 50 businesspeople from BiH.

The signing of the Memorandum of understanding between the BiH Council of Ministry and the UAE government on cooperation in the area of higher education and scientific research would enable closer scientific-technical cooperation.

During the meeting that preceded the signing of the Memorandum, Minister Lagumdžija and Sheik Abdulah concluded that the bilateral relations between the two countries are at a high level and expressed their commitment to further improvement of bilateral political, economic and all other relations.

Minister Lagumdžija informed Sheikh Abdulah of the foreign policy priorities of BiH, especially on the EU aspirations and NATO, as well as of the situation in the region of the Western Balkans. They also discussed the situation in Syria.

At the end of the meeting Minister Lagumdžija invited Sheik Abdulah to visit BiH.

The visit could come at the beginning of summer of this year, when the agreement on the abolition of visas for holders of diplomatic and official passports is signed, as well as the agreement on direct flights Dubai-Sarajevo and the possibility of an agreement on the promotion and protection of investments.
