qatar airwaysBosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the opening of a Qatar Airways’ direct flight from Doha to Sarajevo, from the 7th of September.

Opening the air line is the direct result of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak’s visit to Qatar (13th and 14th of October 2015), and the recent visit of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani to the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expects that the establishment of the air services will  contribute significantly to the development of tourism and overall economic cooperation between BiH and Qatar, including the further development of friendly relations between the two countries.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed the hope that the conditions will soon be achieved  for the announcement of the formation of the Qatar Friendship Fund. This would be directly used to encourage the establishment of new companies as well as small and medium enterprises. In accordance with discussions with the Qatari side, funding is going to be provided from the entire territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will include the Serbian Republic as well as the Federation.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue its activities in the field of economic diplomacy, an increasingly important segment of their work.
