Almost thirty years after the war, the displaced and returnees in Bosnia and Herzegovina still need help. For more than 40 local communities, renewal contracts were signed for the construction of communal and social infrastructure and electrification in areas where displaced persons and returnees live.

One of the municipalities where the money will be invested is Lopare, for the asphalting of local roads.

The Commission for Refugees and Displaced Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina approved 90 projects, of which one million and 200 thousand marks belong to municipalities and cities, and about 900 thousand to religious communities.

“The important thing is that this year there will be monitoring of every project that is being worked on, and of course I told the mayors who have not previously implemented the funds they received in previous years to cancel them and of course implement them this year. After the adoption of the budget, we will announce a new public call where they will municipalities, cities and religious communities will be able to register,” says BiH Minister for Human Rights and Displaced Persons Sevlid Hurtić.

“We emphasized that all projects, i.e. the realization of all projects, have their own deadline and all municipalities, all cities, all representatives of religious communities should respect that deadline,” says Bojan Ninković from the BiH Return Fund.

There were requests for the reconstruction of communal and social infrastructure in the amount of about 60 million, and about 2 million were distributed, which is an indication of a great need. The money is also intended for the City of Doboj.

“The city of Doboj is recognizable and has really gone far in the implementation of such projects related to the refugee population, as well as displaced persons,” points out the deputy mayor of Doboj, Slavko Kovačević.

The social and communal infrastructure renovation project includes more than 40 municipalities and religious communities throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina, BHRT writes.
