[wzslider autoplay=”true”]If you would ask someone which car comes to his mind as a unique symbol of the former Yugoslavia, they would probably say “Jugo 45”. But that is not the only car that older generation remember when the legendary vehicles that were popular in the former Yugoslavia are mentioned.

“Trabant”, “Wartburg”, “Zastava 750”, “Zastava 101”, are some of the cars that could be seen on the streets every day back then. The fact that some bands dedicated songs to them, speaks enough about their popularity.

These are some of the most popular cars that were “rushing” through former Yugoslavia.

Zastava 750 – “Fica”

“Zastava 750” was popularly called “fica”. It is a legendary symbol of Yugoslavia, whose production started in plants of Crvena Zastava back in 1962 under the license of “Fiat 600”.

Zastava 101 – “Stojadin”

“Zastava 101”, was also popularly known as “Stojadin”, and it was produced since 1971 in the factory of Zastava in Kragujevac.

“Stojadin” was created on the model of “fiat 600d” and it was produced until 2008. Except in Yugoslavia, “Stojadin” was also popular in Egypt.

VW Golf

“Golf” was produced in TAS since 1976 in Sarajevo, where 150 thousand cars were produced.

“Golf” was especially popular in Yugoslavia, especially “Golf 2” whose production started in 1985.
