[wzslider autoplay=”true”]Every day, the exteriors of residential facilities in Doboj are painted with murals of famous individuals and proposals for new works of art also come from representatives of communities of flat owners, said the director of the Tourist Board of Doboj Mitra Đuričić.

Đuričić said that the painting of residential facilities begun last year with the works of Deni Božić from Doboj and that it represents one of the efficient ways for decorating the city.

“In the beginning, the paintings of the symbols of the city – Ćiro and the medieval fortress Gradina – were painted on facilities whose exterior was not looking properly,” Đuričić said.

Đuričić said that, so far, around ten murals of famous people from the former Yugoslavia have been painted, among whom are Nikola Teska, Ivo Andrić, Silvana Armenulić, Novak Đoković, Branko Ćopić.

Furthermore, Đuričić added that the Department for Spatial Planning receives new requests from representatives of communities of flat owners on a daily basis. They see the murals as a good way of urbanizing the facility and covering the greyness of the old facades.

“Of course, there is a rule that contents and motives of the mural must help the citizens to acclimatize and identify with the environment and tourists to recognize the openness of the city and its tolerance,” Đuričić concluded.
