The President of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Milorad Dodik, has spoken out following the destruction of the Hadzi Pasha’s Mosque in Brcko due to a fire.

“I was deeply affected by the news that the Hadzi Pasha’s Mosque in Brcko was completely destroyed in a fire last night. With hopes that this religious place will be restored as soon as possible, I extend my support to Imam Mustafa Effendi Gobeljic and all members of the Islamic community in Brcko,” Dodik stated yesterday.

He added that funds for the mosque’s reconstruction would be allocated from the President of RS‘s budget.

“An amount of 50.000 BAM will be transferred from the budget of the President of RS for its reconstruction. RS treats all places of worship with special respect, recognizing their cultural and religious significance,” Dodik emphasized.

To recall, two days ago a major fire broke out in Brcko, completely destroying the Hadzi Pasha’s Mosque.

The Brcko District Police also issued a statement, reporting that they received a call about the fire at 2:12 a.m.

Immediately after the report, members of the Professional Firefighting Unit and police officers were dispatched to the scene, and the on-duty prosecutor of the Brcko District Prosecutor’s Office was informed.

The investigation is ongoing, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Authorities have stated that measures and actions will be taken under the supervision of the Brcko District Prosecutor’s Office to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the incident, Klix.ba writes.
