Dodik: The Security Situation in RS is stable, no Camps are present

The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, stated that the security situation in RS is good and that there is no organized or logistical support for the establishment of camps.

Dodik said that the Ministry of the Internal Affairs of RS is carrying out its duties responsibly and in accordance with the Constitution, undertaking operational measures aimed at maintaining a stable security environment in RS.

“There is no organized or logistical support for the establishment of camps in RS,” Dodik said after a meeting with representatives of RS institutions and relevant services in Istocno Sarajevo, addressing claims about training camps on RS territory.

Dodik emphasized that no relevant intelligence sources, either in RS or throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), can confirm the existence of any camps within RS.

“We will request an extension of EUFOR’s mandate”

Dodik said he would “ask friends” to extend EUFOR’s mandate at the appropriate forum when the time comes, noting that he believes EUFOR is sufficiently neutral and offers strong security elements to be trusted.

“Today, I also held a meeting with the EUFOR commander, General Lsszlo Sticz, and told him that we support EUFOR’s mission,” Dodik stated yesterday.

He stressed that EUFOR could serve as a guarantee for overall security in BiH.

“However, the attacks on EUFOR coming from Bosniak officials such as Helez, Konakovic, and others are motivated by their desire to cancel EUFOR’s mandate to allow NATO to enter and claim that the country has joined NATO. Cancelling, reducing, or denying EUFOR’s mandate would be a great shame for the European Union (EU),” Dodik added.

The meeting at the Administrative Center of the Government of RS in Istocno Sarajevo was attended by members of the BiH Presidency, including Zeljka Cvijanovic, RS Prime Minister Radovan Viskovic, National Assembly of RS (NARS) Speaker Nenad Stevandic, RS Minister of Internal Affairs Sinisa Karan, RS Police Director Sinisa Kostresevic, BiH Security Minister Nenad Nesic, and BiH Deputy Defense Minister Aleksandar Goganovic.

Other RS ministers and representatives from institutions at the BiH level also participated in the meeting.

RS to seek the BiH Parliament’s approval to apply for BRICS membership

Dodik announced that the authorities of RS would ask the Parliament of BiH for approval to apply for membership or some form of cooperation with the BRICS organization.

According to Dodik, RS, under the Constitution, has the right to request Parliament’s approval to engage in certain political matters.

“We will seek Parliament’s approval to apply for a form of BRICS membership,” Dodik emphasized.

He explained that BRICS is an organization focused on peace and is an association of sovereign countries making independent decisions.

Dodik pointed out that BRICS is not a substitute for the EU and said, “Only malicious people would connect the two in that way.”

“BRICS is not an anti-organization and is not directed against anyone – not against the EU or any other association or individual country,” Dodik said, adding:

“As you can see, BRICS includes countries from nearly all continents, except North America and Australia, with countries from South America, Africa, Asia, and Europe having already joined BRICS,” Dodik concluded.
