Dodik: We will ask that the President of RS be also a Member of the Presidency of BiH

On the occasion of the upcoming negotiations on changes to the Election Law, Milorad Dodik stated that he would demand the president of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity to become a member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) at the same time.

“We have the right to say how we will elect our member of the Presidency, and we believe that a president who has dynamics and is familiar with all the details for RS should also be a member of the Presidency,” told Dodik.

The proposal of the SNSD president comes down to the fact that a person who is elected president of the RS in the direct elections, automatically becomes a member of the BiH Presidency who is elected from the RS entity.

“In the RS, it is needed to reach a consensus on that regard and that it should be done like this because in that way the RS can defend itself more,” Dodik pointed out, thus further complicating the negotiations on the Election Law.

He stressed that RS will actively participate in the changes to the Election Law, and called on the opposition to join it, emphasizing that the Central Election Commission (CEC) should not have any influence because, in his opinion, it was illegally elected.

“A serious policy was for us to get out of the ‘Sejdic-Finci’ story and not be collateral of the story that is happening in the Federation of BiH (FBiH). As we said, in the RS person is elected by direct vote, so please finish your process, and when you define it, we can agree on amendments to the Election Law, ” said Dodik.

It is not known whether such a proposal was communicated with Dragan Covic, which would be expected, but it seems that it further complicates the situation for HDZ, because it puts more pressure on the SDA, and thus reduces the chance for any kind of agreement, Klix.ba writes.
