Donja Jablanica Residents dissatisfied with the speed of Reconstruction after the Floods

After the catastrophic floods that hit Donja Jablanica on October 4th this year, in which 19 people lost their lives, the lives of the locals are slowly returning to normal. However, the locals are dissatisfied with the speed at which the reconstruction of their homes is proceeding, and they particularly complain that no one in charge has yet taken any action regarding the removal of materials that were stored at the train station warehouse during the clearing of the area.

Those whose houses are above the train station say that there used to be a children’s playground right next to the station, which is now covered in waste that emits an unpleasant odor, and they are concerned about this, as they believe that this could have a negative impact on their health.

Numerous locals dissatisfied with the infrastructure in this town also held a meeting with the mayor of the Donja Jablanica municipality and presented their demands.

They ask to be told when the safety assessment of the quarry will be carried out, to be told whether it is possible to move the remaining stone in the quarry and potuk, as well as when the removal of the material stored at the warehouse of the railway station will be organized.

SAMIR MASLO, resident of Donja Jablanica “Are we going to create conditions for life here? We expect the competent services to create conditions for us to live normally.”

DAMIR ŠABANOVIĆ, Mayor of Jablanica Municipality “We absolutely do not have the capacity to talk about space and space stability, and we need a report from the Federal Institute of Geology.”

In Donja Jablanica, nothing is being done on the reconstruction of the railway, even though the Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced earlier that the reconstruction would be completed in two or three months. As the Minister of Transport and Communications said, how alarming the situation is is best shown by a letter from a group of businessmen who offer to pay for the reconstruction themselves.

EDIN FORTO, Minister of Transport and Communications “I responsibly claim that money is not a problem, and if there is a problem in the reconstruction of the railway, it can only be a slow reaction of the railway administration, so I do not have enough information about when the works will start, but I know and claim that money is not a problem.”

Let us remind you that the residents of Donja Jablanica did not receive, as they said, information about the questions they asked at last night’s meeting with the mayor. The main report they are waiting for is the report of the Federal Institute of Geology, and they are also looking for accelerated work by the Commission for Damage Assessment and the Commission for Safety Assessment, which will come to Donja Jablanica, as well as a thematic session of the House of Peoples of the PSBiH. They hope that it will be held by next Wednesday, because if that does not happen, they have announced a road blockade, BHRT writes.
