Draw for the World Cup: National Team of BiH placed in Group D

The draw for the qualifying groups for the World Cup, which will be held in Qatar in 2022, took place on Monday evening at the Hallenstadion in Zurich. The national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina is placed in Group D with the national teams of France, Ukraine, Finland and Kazakhstan.

The draw of the groups for the World Cup was commented by the captain of the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Edin Dzeko: “Given that we, unfortunately, lost our place in that third strong group and fell in the fourth, we expected one difficult group, just like the one we got. We have world champions and France is definitely the biggest candidate for the first place. There is also Ukraine, which has been playing very well for years, then Finland, which we know quite well. I still somehow feel bitter when I think of the defeat from them, which in a way prevented us from going to the European Championships. Certainly from the fifth hat, we were also unlucky considering that Kazakhstan is one of the better national teams in that strong group. Despite all this, I think that in recent years we have shown that we are the biggest opponent of ourselves. When we do not give the maximum then we can hardly beat anyone, but on the other hand if each individual in the team gives 100 percent of himself and if the organization in and around the national team is at the level, I think we can play with everyone. Seriousness, responsibility and commitment, I think that was what the national team lacked the most. BiH has a lot of quality players and the last games have shown that we got some young players and I am sure that we have the quality to do something more than we did in the last period. In order to qualify for another big competition, these three things I mentioned must be up to standard in every game. “
