The Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands announced that on Monday, 100 marines left for Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Eindohoven Air Base. Earlier, 50 Dutch soldiers arrived in the country.

“The naval company will become part of the multinational EUFOR battalion Althea. The battalion can be deployed all over Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Butmir base in Sarajevo. The unit can be deployed for multiple tasks, from patrols to crowd and riot control, but also as a fast-moving unit for providing support anywhere in the country,” the statement said.

They pointed out that joint exercises with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are planned, and that in six months the soldiers will be replaced by another company.

They pointed out that in addition to the company of marines, part of the staff officers and an intelligence team from the Netherlands have been staying in Bosnia and Herzegovina from before.

The decision to send Dutch soldiers to the EUFOR mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina was announced in April this year. 10 soldiers were deployed in the intelligence part of the mission. The reason for sending was the increase in tensions in the country.
We remind you that after several years of absence,

Germany also rejoined the EUFOR mission last year. There are currently about a thousand soldiers in EUFOR.
