EBRD Expects the Growth of BDP of 2.7 Percent in BiH

EuropeanBank(Novovrijeme)In the report of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) “Innovations in transition” key elements of economic development and reforms were listed, and it is expected that BiH this year will have the growth of BDP of about 2.7 percent

Director of the representative office of EBRD for BiH, Jan Braun said at a press conference in Banja Luka that the EBRD plans in BiH to sign a new 10 to 20 projects this year, in financing volume of 100 to 200 million euros.

Braun said that last year was very difficult for BiH, because of catastrophic floods, but also because of the elections.

However, despite the difficulties, BiH has made significant progress in the realization of large infrastructural projects, and signed nine contracts with the EBRD in the amount of about 68 million euros.

As he said in the EBRD’s portfolio, 46 percent refers to infrastructure projects, noting that BiH has significant infrastructure needs.

The deputy director for strategy and policy Peter Sanfej said for the January forecasts, that BiH could have growth of gross local products of around 2.7 percent, which is better than last year.

Sanfej added also that the prevailing feeling that BiH is moving forward and that the government is trying to implement the reform process.
