Economists expect a global Reduction in Inflation

Economists expect a decrease in inflation on a global scale in the next three years, according to a survey by the Munich Institute for Economic Research (IFO) and the Swiss Institute for Economic Policy.

It is expected to be five percent this year, 4.4 percent next year, and 3.6 percent in 2027, the IFO announced last week.

The expected inflation of five percent would still be significantly above the wishes of most central banks, but at the same time it would mean a drop of one percentage point compared to the previous forecast, according to the IFO.

Western Europe is expected to record the lowest inflation this year at 3.1 percent.

In Central and North America and Northern Europe, it should be around three and a half percent. On the other hand, inflation in North Africa is said to be around 45%, and in South America 29%.

In 2027, inflation is expected to be 2.1% in Western Europe, 2.4% in North America and 2.5% in Northern Europe.

Meanwhile, East Africa then still had inflation of 41% and North Africa 25%.

1,541 economic experts from 128 countries participated in the survey, conducted from September 26th to October 11th last year.

At the end of 2023, according to the first estimate of the European statistical office Eurostat, the eurozone recorded 2.9 percent inflation, which is 0.5 percentage points more than in November.

After a significant slowdown in inflation in the previous months, it rose again at the end of last year, Akta.ba reports.
