SARAJEVO, July 4, 2025 – The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Bosnia and Herzegovina hosted a solemn and festive celebration in Sarajevo to mark Egypt’s National Day, commemorating the July 1952 Revolution – a defining moment in the country’s modern history.

In his keynote address, the Egyptian Ambassador welcomed guests and dignitaries, expressing deep pride in Egypt’s journey over the past 73 years since the Revolution. “It is my profound honor to welcome you all this evening as we gather to celebrate the National Day of the Arab Republic of Egypt, where we commemorate the dreams, aspirations and sacrifices of Egypt and its people in pursuit of sovereignty, dignity and a better tomorrow,” the Ambassador stated.

He highlighted the Revolution’s enduring legacy, emphasizing its values of independence, justice, and unity. “Today, we reflect not only on our historical milestones but also on the spirit of resilience and unity that continues to define the Egyptian nation,” he added.

A Legacy of Peace and Global Responsibility

The Ambassador also underlined Egypt’s current role on the international stage, particularly as a stabilizing force in the Middle East and Africa. He reiterated Egypt’s active engagement in multilateral diplomacy and its commitment to peace, notably in its continued support for the Palestinian cause.

“We have been steadfast in our efforts to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people, mediate a permanent ceasefire, and facilitate humanitarian assistance to Gaza,” he said. “There can be no durable peace in the Middle East without a just resolution of the Palestinian Question and the establishment of an independent Palestinian State.”

Strengthening Ties with Bosnia and Herzegovina

Reflecting on the strong bilateral relationship between Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Ambassador praised the growing partnership across multiple sectors.

“Here in Sarajevo, this welcoming city that knows the weight of history and strength of the human spirit, I feel particularly moved,” he said. “Egypt remains committed to strengthening the bridges that bind our two countries and peoples.”

The partnership spans cultural exchange, tourism, trade, labor mobility, defense cooperation, and education. The Ambassador noted the growing number of Bosnian tourists visiting Egypt, and announced ongoing efforts to establish direct flights between Cairo and Sarajevo to further expand tourism and connectivity.

He also referenced the 2024 visit by then Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Dr. Denis Bećirović, to Egypt as a milestone in deepening high-level cooperation.

Cultural Diplomacy and Shared Heritage

The Ambassador acknowledged the global interest in the Grand Egyptian Museum – the largest of its kind in the world – which had been scheduled to be inaugurated this week with a worldwide broadcast. The ceremony has been postponed due to regional developments but will take place later this year.

He expressed hope that the museum would further strengthen cultural ties and attract more visitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Commitment to Capacity Building

Highlighting three decades of collaboration, the Ambassador proudly noted that hundreds of professionals from BiH have benefited from Egyptian technical training and capacity-building programs, calling them “ambassadors of friendship” between the two nations.

A Message of Friendship

In closing, the Ambassador thanked the attendees and reaffirmed Egypt’s enduring friendship with Bosnia and Herzegovina:

“Allow me to express my gratitude for your presence, friendship, courteous cooperation, and continued belief in the shared values that bring us together.”

The evening concluded with a celebration of Egyptian culture, reaffirming a bond built on mutual respect, historical connection, and a shared commitment to peace and prosperity.
