The Director General of the European Service for Foreign Affairs, Angelina Eichorst, said today in Potočari that what happened in these areas 28 years ago will never and must not be forgotten.
“Today we are here in Potočari to honor all the victims on behalf of the European Union, on behalf of the high representative of Borell, on our own behalf. What happened in this area 28 years ago will never and must not be forgotten. We are also here to let’s once again repeat the message that something like this must never happen again”, emphasized Eichorst.
She emphasized that by coming to Potočari, they show their understanding.
“We want to better understand everything that happened, but behind everything to repeat our determination that something like this must never happen again. Today, 30 victims of the Srebrenica genocide will finally find their peace. They were fathers, brothers, friends. The oldest among they were 65, and the youngest was 15. However, it is also important to show them proper respect. We are here to show that respect and to share with the families and victims all their pain and suffering that they went through,” said Eichorst.
She said that the European Union stands by the victims, always and at all times.
“Those who deny genocide, those who glorify war crimes, it’s time for them to show understanding and due respect for the victims. I invite them to do that,” added Eichorst.
