Embassy of the Russian Federation in BiH has commented on the Decision of the HR Schmidt

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina has commented on the decision of the High Representative Christian Schmidt to suspend the application of the RS Law on Immovable Property.

“We reaffirm the principled position of the Russian Federation that German citizen Christian Schmidt cannot be considered a High Representative in BiH without the consent of the UN Security Council,” it said.

In this regard, they pointed out that Schmidt has no authority in terms of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH and that all his decisions are illegitimate.

“We appeal to the partners from the PIC Steering Board with a request to annul the so-called decision of Christian Schmidt from April 12. Then all the responsibility for the possible destabilization in Bosnia and Herzegovina will fall on the representatives of the international community, “they said.

The Russian Embassy calls on all political forces in BiH to show realism and immediately start a direct dialogue, without external mediation, in order to reach compromise solutions on current domestic political issues as soon as possible, form and strengthen an atmosphere of agreement and reconciliation.

“Only this, in the current complicated situation, can create conditions for ensuring stability and security in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the Russian embassy said.
