After participating in the major international conference Three Seas in Dubrovnik, where the intergovernmental agreement on the Southern Interconnection was signed, the Energoinvest delegation continued its activities during the 41st International Scientific and Business Conference in Opatija, where a series of meetings were held on the sidelines of the conference with key partners from the region whose role will be of particular importance in the process of restructuring, consolidation and future revitalization of Nova Željezara Zenica, Energoinvest announced.
During the meetings, issues of challenges facing the industrial sector were raised, as well as the possibilities of creating new business models that would enable long-term stabilization of production, preservation of logistics and transport flows, and protection of jobs related to the entire economic system were discussed.
Energoinvest reminds that meetings were previously held with representatives of the Development Bank of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Railways of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and representatives of representative unions, and the activities and vision of the future development and stabilization of Nova Željezara Zenica were presented.
An important aspect of the entire process is the official letter from the Management of Luka Ploče d.d., delivered to Energoinvest after the meetings, which expressed support for activities aimed at preserving the operations of Nova Željezara Zenica and the stability of the economic system of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The letter stated, among other things, that preserving steel production and the stability of the operations of Željezara Zenica goes beyond the importance of a single economic entity, that it is an important industrial system whose operations directly affect the railway, logistics and transport sectors, as well as the overall economic stability and preservation of jobs in the region.
The Management of Luka Ploče emphasized its readiness to continue discussions and define sustainable models of cooperation of mutual interest, with the belief that through a partnership approach, institutional support and mutual understanding, quality and long-term solutions can be found.
– Today, we see a clear willingness of all parties involved to take an additional step forward so that this story has its future, initiates new economic development and preserves jobs not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina but also in the countries of the region, including the Republic of Croatia. The letter from our partners from Luka Ploče best confirms this – said Energoinvest Director Mirza Ustamujić.
Energoinvest will continue its activities to bring together domestic and regional partners with the aim of creating a sustainable industrial model that will enable a new development perspective for Nova Željezara Zenica and the entire economic system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Energoinvest announced.
