The Representative Office of German Economy in BiH hosted a conference called “The energy from biodegradable waste” with the aim of promoting the exchange of experience and information between German and BH experts and companies engaged in the field of renewable energy, as well as making new business contacts.

Martin Gaber, the Vice-President of the Representative Office of German Economy in BiH, stated that although the conditions for the development of this type of economic areas through infrastructure and incentives are not at an enviable level in BiH, there are companies that have achieved the top result in this sector and their stories and experience can encourage others to get a bit more activated in this sector. This conference represented an opportunity for German companies that are renowned in this field and have extensive knowledge and rich experience to present themselves and their work, which will surely be important to companies from BiH that see the potential in this field.

BiH has large unused potential in the field of renewable energy sources.

Besides the hydro energy and wind energy, bioenergy also plays an important role and has the greatest chances for further increase. BiH has enviable potentials of biomass that is obtained from wood processing and the agricultural sector and it can be used for the production of energy.

Although Germany has very good results achieved in this sector, there is still a lot of things that can be done.

Nihad Harbas, an expert in the field of renewable energy in BiH, stated that gross energy consumption from the renewable sources in BiH is about 40 %, but we should aim to increase this consumption until 2020.
