An Englishman will be a Referee at the Match between BiH and Cyprus

The next match of the qualifications for the World Championship in 2018 in Russia, in which Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) will face Cyprus in Nicosia, will be refereed by an English referee Andre Marriner (46).

Marriner has been a referee since 1992 and was promoted to FIFA’s list of the world’s best referees eight years ago.

Fans of English football know him well since he regularly referees matches of the English Premiership and the FA Cup where he refereed the finals in 2013 (Manchester City – Wigan 0:1).

He’s a very confident referee so he has no qualms about deciding for penalty shots even in the late parts of the game, something for which he became (in)famous in 2011 in the Arsenal – Liverpool match when the latest ever goal was scored.

In the past several years, he would be the referee for national team games once or twice a year and he was often the fourth referee.

Our national team player Anel Hadzic known Marrinera well. Marinnera was the referee of our Anel’s match five days ago when his team Videoton lost to Partizan (0:4). He decided for five yellow and one red card.

Lee Betts and Simon Bennett will assist the experienced referee, while the fourth referee will be Craig Pawson.
