”There will be no war in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), ” the United States (U.S.) Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, told the citizens of our country.

He has not yet officially announced his first visit to the regionbut explained that he is currently talking to numerous leaders and that together they are looking at how to constructively move this area forward.

When asked whether a package of sanctions is being created for the leaders in BiH, he answered that no one is talking about sanctions yet.

“Sanctions might be directed against individuals, but we are stillin the dialogue phase,” he stated, stressing that the entities do not have the constitutional authority to unilaterally withdraw from institutions.

”I think it is about time for the citizens of BiH to start building their country and stop leaving it, ” he added in an interview with Al Jazeera Balkans.

“There will be no war in BiH and I don’t know why people are talking about war and they should be talking about economic development. When people go to the elections, I think they have clear options between those who want to continue the ethnic divisions of the 1990s and those who want to move forward,” Escobar said clearly.

”Vucic has the support of the U.S. as long as he is on the European path, ” he explained.

“Our relationship with Serbia is neither good nor bad, it is complicated. I hope that this ‘development partnership’ we have with Serbia will be able to help stability in this region,” he said when asked if Serbia was a destabilizing factor.

When asked whether he trusted the Montenegrin government and whether NATO should share information with the authorities in Podgorica, he said they had U.S. support.

“I hope they will continue to reject the voices that distance them from Europe,” he noted.
