EU Commissioner for Crisis Management in an Official Visit to BiH

European Union (EU) Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič will visit Bosnia and Herzegovina today and tomorrow, when he will meet with members of the BiH Presidency and BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Bisera Turković, and after signing the contract with BiH Minister of Security Selmo Cikotić, officially will welcome Bosnia and Herzegovina to the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.

Accession to the EU Mechanism is an extremely important step and an indicator that, if there is a will, changes are possible in Bosnia and Herzegovina that will bring this country closer to EU structures, announced the EU Delegation in BiH.

The aim of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism is to strengthen cooperation between EU members and countries participating in civil protection in terms of prevention, preparedness and response to disasters.

In addition to the EU member states, the countries participating in this mechanism are – Iceland, Norway, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Turkey, and from January 2023, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as stated in the announcement.
