Member of the House of Representatives in the BiH Parliament Azra Hadžiahmetović , as the sole panelist from BiH, participated yesterday in an economic conference “East Forum Berlin” that was held in Berlin with the participation of economists and those in executive government positions-ministers, deputy ministers from Germany and countries from Eastern and South Eastern Europe.
“The topic of the conference was creating a free trade zone together with the EU, from the region of Portugal to Vladivostok and practically creating a wide free trade zone that was initiated as an idea ten years ago’’, said prof. Hadžiahmetović for Fena.
She added that since last year, when Russia became a member of the World Trade Organization a lot was done in the preparations of this meeting in order to hear the opinions on the reflections of the eventual establishment of such a zone and on the economy of the EU, as well as for countries in Eastern Europe, especially South East Europe.
Member of the BiH Parliament Azra Hadžiahmetović was asked by the organizers to prepare a topic on reflections in the Eurozone debt crisis on the region of South East Europe in the context of attracting foreign investors-private and public investments in countries of the region and its presentation was focused on those countries, particularly in the context of the crisis and its repercussions.
Professor Azra Hadžiahmetović specifically highlighted the fiscal imbalance in countries of the region and distortion of common economic standards and macroeconomic stability in some countries in the region.
“EU integration is a key leader in all economic and structural reforms for all other six countries that are in the process of approaching the EU, but in financial adjustments and attracting foreign investments’’, said Azra Hadžiahmetović.
Professor Azra Hadžiahmetović specifically in the context of the effects of the debt crisis in the Eurozone in countries in the region, drew attention to how much the region, with trade, foreign investments and foreign banks and remittances are all key elements in its economies, was addressed and how sensitive it is to changes in the EU so that countries in the region pay the price of the debt crisis in the Eurozone.
