Portugal, which holds the presidency of the European Union (EU), has compiled a new list of potential safe countries at the time of the coronavirus pandemic, including Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In addition to Bosnia and Herzegovina, the new decision puts Montenegro and Kosovo on the list of safe countries.
The ambassadors of the EU member states have approved the new list, and the decision will take effect by this week, Radio Free Europe has learned, and as they say, that will mean that citizens of BiH can travel to EU member states even though they are not fully vaccinated.
The rules for entering countries that are members of the European Union differ depending on the country you are going to, so if you are traveling, it is best to check with the embassy what you need to enter. A PCR test or proof of vaccination is required to enter most countries, however, additional conditions are possible.
The European Union updates the list every two weeks in accordance with epidemiological measures, and given the good situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this decision is not surprising. During the previous update of the list, Serbia, Northern Macedonia and Albania were added.
At any time, the EU can "pull the brakes" on any country and ban entry if the number of infected people in that country exceeds 75 per 100,000 inhabitants.
EU countries have agreed on a coordinated approach to the restriction of free movement in response to the coronavirus pandemic. This includes a colour code for the classification of regions, based on the epidemiological situation there.
Under the category of entities and territorial authorities that are not recognised as states by at least one member state, travel restrictions for Taiwan should also be gradually lifted.
Travel restrictions should also be lifted for the special administrative regions of China Hong Kongand Macao.
Residents of Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and the Vatican should be considered as EU residents for the purpose of this recommendation.
