13236294_1771605869742756_672154923_nDelegation of the European Parliament arrived in Mostar on Wednesday, where they held individual meetings with representatives of the city committee of the SDA, SDP BiH, DF and the HDZ BiH, and Euro parliamentarians will later talk with representatives of county and federal authorities.

“Do not waste your time. This is the only message that I have. It is unimaginable for us that local elections cannot be organized in Mostar,” said European Parliament rapporteur for BiH, Cristian Dan Preda.

Croatian Euro parliamentarian, Andrej Plenkovic, said that European parliamentarians are bringing a message of optimism and message of support of the European Parliament to Mostar, adding that it is of exceptional importance for BiH to start solving the current problems.

“The situation in Mostar is an indicator of the situation in which political option is not able to solve a problem of the so called Dayton category, even after so much time since the signing of the Dayton Agreement,” said the European parliamentarian, Tonino Picula.

According to him, after the submission of applications for membership in the European Union, BiH returned in the focus of interest of European countries, but it could get out of focus again if issues within the country does not start to resolve problems, such as the elections from Mostar or the publication of the census results.

After a meeting with the European delegation, Chairman of the City Board of HDZ BiH in Mostar, Damir Dzeba, said that we must start with implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court, if we want to go to the European Union.

He added that for the beginning the decisions of the Constitutional Court should be respected, elections in Mostar should be held, and then, in the context of the City Council, should be discussed the organization and structure of the city of Mostar.

Chairman of the City Board of SDA Mostar, Salem Maric, said that the joint proposal of the SDA and SBB is a minimum below which we cannot go and that this proposal is a good basis for further discussions on amendments to the Election Law.

“We also believe that amendments to the Election Law and amendments to the Statute of the city of Mostar, should be discussed together” said Maric.
