The member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Denis Bećirović held a meeting today in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christian Schmidt, the Head of the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina Ambassador Luigi Soreca, the Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the United States of America in Bosnia and Herzegovina John Ginkel and the ambassadors of the Quinte member states in Bosnia and Herzegovina: the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (UK) Julian Reilly, the Ambassador of the Republic of France François Delmas, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Alfred Grannas, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy, Sarah Eti Castellani.

During the talks, the strong international commitment to the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina was confirmed, Bećirović said.

They discussed the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, reform processes, as well as the consequences of not implementing the Law on the Public Radio and Television System of Bosnia and Herzegovina, said the member of the BiH Presidency.

The head of the EU Delegation to BiH and the EU’s special representative in BiH, Ambassador Luigi Soreca, said after the meeting that the disappearance or collapse of BHRT would represent a big step backwards for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“A stable, functional and truly independent public radio and television system is a clear and long-standing priority of the European Union in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ensuring a sustainable, predictable and legal financing model is urgent and can no longer be delayed,” Soreca stressed.

He added that the EU, together with the partners from Kvinta, invites all competent institutions to be actively involved in solving this issue, and that they remain ready to support the dialogue with the aim of finding a sustainable solution.
