Excavation of Gold in Central Bosnia Began

zlatoThe search for gold in central Bosnia has officially begun. The government of the Central Bosnia Canton, at the proposal of Minister of Economy of the Central Bosnia Canton Sedžad Milanović, brought two decisions at the first session after the annual holiday relating to the exploration of gold in two locations- Mačkare – Mračaj in municipality Uskoplje and in Bakovići in municipality Fojnica, according to Večernji List.

The company ‘Glanz Investment’ d.o.o from Sarajevo received the concession for the exploration of potential gold deposits in Uskoplje, as well as its exploitation. This is the only company that responded to the open call for exploration and exploitation of gold in the area Mačkara – Mračaj in Uskoplje, which became available in May of this year.

There is far more demonstrated interest of potential investors in the exploration of gold deposits in Bakovići in municipality Fojnica. In Bakovići, there once existed a gold mine that was closed 77 years ago, and gold that was found in Bakovići was exported to the UK and in other European countries.

At the public competition that was made available in May, after which the municipal government of Fojnica gave the ‘green light’ for research, five companies applied. Three among them are local companies: ”ESKIMO S2“ from Travnik, jajački ”AU AURUM“ and ”Zlatna žica“ from Fojnica.

Among the interested ones for research was also the Sarajevo company ‘Kung Feng Mining’, but the job was obtained by ‘BBM’ d.o.o. Sarajevo. According to the opinion of the six-member Commission for concessions, they had the best offer.

Among other things, they are willing to invest 10 million KM in research and study, and then assign to the government of Central Bosnia Canton that would, with the information received from the field, open a competition for the awarding of concessions for the exploration of gold. It is a fact that someone is ready to invest millions, and there is no guarantee that they would get the job to exploit gold, and this was the reason why members of the government of Central Bosnia Canton asked for more information on investors, as well as the procedure for the awarding of concessions.

If there is really gold in Bakovići in a quantity that is profitable for exploration, the government will have a bidding again for the award of concessions, and in the process of the exploration of gold will have to take into account the consent of local people.

Thus, after the award of concessions for research, the gold exploration in Central Bosnia has officially begun.
