In the area of Foča Municipality, an exhumation process has been completed under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and complete mortal remains of one person have been found. The identity of the victim whose mortal remains have been found will be determined in a subsequent process.

The found mortal remains will be transported to Goražde, where forensic and crime investigation processing will be performed, whereas a bone sample has been taken to determine the identity of the victim by way of the DNA analysis.

The exhumation and the work of all persons involved in the exhumation process has been coordinated by a Legal Officer, under the supervision of the Prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in charge of the case.

The process of searching for and exhumation of the mortal remains has been conducted with the participation of an Investigator from the BiH Missing Persons Institute, a representative of the ICMP in BiH, an expert forensic pathologist, the required workers with adequate machinery, as well as police officers from the Republika Srpska Ministry of the Interior.

Almost on a daily basis, employees of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina participate in the search for mortal remains and in exhumations of victims of war crimes throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
