Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations Mirko Sarovic met with Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Petar Ivancov yesterday. It was discussed about the volume of trade, and in particular the increased export of fruit from BiH to Russia.
‘’The system of control and export of fruit has been significantly improved and there is a stable increase in exports to the Russian Federation. We also expect to obtain a license for the export of food of animal origin to this large and significant market as we, for our part, have met all the standards and requirements of the Russian Federation. I believe that we have made enough progress because the European Union (EU), which requires high standards, has already allowed us the export of most types of food,’’ said Minister Sarovic.
The meeting welcomed the joint start of work of the Energy Working Groups between Russia and BiH, which will be engaged from next month to resolve key issues between the two countries, such as the ability to supply BiH with gas through new pipelines, and repayment of debt for the gas supply to the Russian Federation, in the period from 1991 to 1995.
‘’Minister Sarovic announced that he would call the competent entities representatives “at the same table” in order to try bringing their views closer, noting that it was time to set clear deadlines for resolving the issue of gas debt,’’ said the BiH Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, Biznis Info reports.
