The Miners left the Pit, the Trade Union continues the Fight

After 48 hours spent in the “Raspotočje” pit, the miners of the “Zenica” Brown Coal Mine left and went home.

After coming to the surface, the miners said that they were outraged that, although the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent a request for the payment of salaries to the miners, “Elektroprivreda” did not respond during the day.

They emphasized that “now they know who is to blame for the situation in Zenica Rudnik”.

About thirty miners of RMU “Zenica” have been protesting in the pits since Tuesday because of unpaid wages and hot meals.

The president of the Independent Trade Union of the Brown Coal Mines Zenica Elvedin Avdić said that, although they did not receive a response from “Elektroprivreda”, they asked the miners to leave the pit for their health, and that they accepted the invitation.

He emphasized that, after today’s meeting in the Government of the Federation of BiH and the request of the Government of FBiH that the EP BiH act according to the Agreement that was signed on July 3, they know where they will solve their problems and that all seven mines from that concern will act unitedly.

Let us remind you that the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina stated earlier today that they will instruct the management of “Elektroprivreda” to fully implement the agreement on the methodology of salary payment for employees in the “Zenica” Brown Coal Mine for May and June.

The president of the Independent Union of Mineworkers of FBiH Sinan Husić stated that the representatives of the mining union demanded that “Elektroprivreda” submit its final position regarding the order that will be sent to them by the end of the day.

“It is very important to us because, based on the position of the leadership of ‘Elektroprivreda’, we will create the activities of the FBiH Mine Workers’ Union in the coming days,” said Husić after the meeting at the FBiH Government in Sarajevo.
