In its 20-year history, Facebook, among the most widespread social networks globally, continues its journey under the “Meta” umbrella despite controversies surrounding data security and violations of competition rules.

Facebook, which was founded by Mark Zuckerberg and three of his friends in a Harvard University dorm room on February 4, 2004, is still the most used social media platform in the world, according to information collected by the AA.

The company has grown rapidly over the years by expanding popular apps like WhatsApp and Instagram.

After the loss of young users, deciding to change its image and continue its path as “Meta” in 2021, the company continues its efforts in the shadow of scandals, data security issues, violations of competition rules and criticism related to censorship.

Allegedly, at least three billion people use one of this company’s products every day.

Meta owns and operates Facebook, Instagram, Threads and WhatsApp, among others.
