A meeting was held in Mostar on Monday between the president of HDZ Dragan Covic and the ambassador of Hungary to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Krisztian Posa. The meeting was also attended by HDZ vice-president Darijana Filipovic.
The central topic of the conversation related to the European path of BiH, acknowledging the necessity of urgently continuing the reform processes with the aim of initiating BiH’s negotiation process with the European Union (EU).
They also discussed the preservation of stability, protection of the constitutional order, and legitimate representation of the constituent peoples, as well as bilateral relations, according to the statement.
At the meeting, President Covic emphasized the need to adopt the remaining laws which represent a prerequisite for further progress on the EU path.
“In light of 30 years since the Dayton Agreement, he emphasized as key the adoption of amendments to the Election Law that would protect the constitutional structure of BiH and the rights of the three constituent peoples. With regard to the upcoming General Elections in 2026, it was stressed that the Croat people in BiH must be guaranteed the right to freely choose their own representatives in the bodies designated for the protection of collective rights,” the HDZ statement said.
Ambassador Posa stated that Hungary recognizes the importance of the reform processes in BiH and supports its progress toward membership in the EU. He expressed readiness for further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in all key areas, emphasizing that Hungary wishes to remain a reliable partner to BiH, especially in the crucial period of European integration, Klix.ba writes.
