The OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina welcomes the submission of the Draft Law on the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with key corrections and modifications, proposed by Representative Predrag Kojović, the organization announced.
As stated in their statement, this is a key step in preserving the basic judicial functions that are necessary to ensure legal certainty, equality before the law and the integrity of the judicial system in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“The proposal contributes to harmonizing the judicial reform process in BiH with practical needs that have been identified through the Mission’s objective and comprehensive court monitoring program. This further emphasizes the importance of establishing a judicial body with the powers of a supreme court, which will have the authority to consistently interpret and apply laws and harmonize case law at all levels of the judicial system in BiH,” the OSCE said.
They also say that they “remain committed to supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina in creating a legal framework that protects human rights by strengthening the independence, consistency and efficiency of the judiciary through legislative processes that will be transparent, inclusive and implemented within an appropriate timeframe.”
“We call on representatives and delegates of both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH to support this Draft Law and thereby demonstrate their shared commitment and commitment to an efficient and comprehensive judiciary in BiH,” the OSCE statement added.
