Dino Selimović, Acting Director of the Sarajevo International Airport Public Company, held a meeting on May 22 with H.E. Adrian Farrell, Ambassador of Ireland to Sarajevo, during which they discussed the possibilities of improving cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ireland, with a special focus on strengthening air connectivity between Sarajevo and Dublin.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that there is significant potential for intensifying tourist, business, educational, cultural, scientific, technological and other forms of cooperation between the two friendly countries, and that direct and better quality air connectivity is an important prerequisite for the further development of relations and mobility of citizens.

It was particularly emphasized that an additional impetus to connecting Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ireland will be given by the recent expansion of the capacities of the Embassy of Ireland in Sarajevo, thanks to which citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to apply for visas faster, easier and free of charge as of June 2026, with an expected processing time of only a few days. Such positive administrative steps significantly contribute to increasing interest in travel, tourism, business cooperation and exchange between the two countries.

The interlocutors particularly emphasized the importance of Ryanair in connecting Sarajevo with numerous European destinations, and discussed the possibilities of further developing cooperation and improving the accessibility of the Irish market to passengers from Bosnia and Herzegovina, which had already been negotiated in the previous period.

The meeting also discussed the potential for cooperation with Aer Lingus, especially in the context of connecting Sarajevo with destinations in North America and the United States via Dublin as an important European air hub.

A series of activities and official visits are planned in the coming period with the aim of strengthening overall cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Ireland, including a planned visit to Dublin, where the focus will be on the development of tourism, improving air connectivity, and opening new opportunities for economic and institutional ties between the two countries, as well as using good practices in working with the emigrants/diaspora, which has significantly contributed to the economic development of Ireland in recent decades, an opportunity that Bosnia and Herzegovina also has.
