COM EUFOR Visits Kosovo to Strengthen Regional Cooperation and Security Dialogue

Commander EUFOR, Major General Fronda, conducted a two-day visit to Kosovo, where he met with Commander of NATO mission KFOR, Major General Özkan Ulutaş, to discuss regional security and ongoing cooperation between international missions operating throughout the Western Balkans.

This significant engagement afforded both parties the opportunities to discuss matters of mutual significance across the Balkans, with discussions centering on the importance ongoing work to maintain a safe and secure environment across the region amid continued global instability and evolving security challenges. Both commanders highlighted the value of close coordination, information sharing, and cooperation in supporting long-term stability throughout the Balkans.

Both COM EUFOR and COM KFOR also discussed the success of the recent strategic visit by Chair of the European Union Military Committee, General Seán Clancy, and the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone toboth EUFOR HQ and NATO HQ. The visit underlined the unified and complementary approach of the European Union and NATO in working alongside domestic institutions to ensure continued peace, stability, and security for all citizens.

Major General Fronda also held discussions with Deputy Commander KFOR, Brigadier General Federico Collina, and Commander of Regional Command West, Colonel Federico Mora. As part of the engagement programme, COM EUFOR met Italian contingent personnel serving with KFOR at Camp Film City, Pristina, and at Camp Villaggio Italia in Pec. Major General Fronda praised the professionalism, commitment, and operational readiness demonstrated by KFOR personnel in support of regional stability and security.

Speaking during the visit, Major General Fronda stated:

“Cooperation and coordination between international partners remain essential in supporting stability throughout the Western Balkans. In an increasingly uncertain global environment, maintaining strong partnerships and open dialogue is more important than ever.”

The visit reaffirmed the strong relationship between EUFOR and KFOR, as well as the shared commitment of both missions to supporting peace, stability, and security throughout the region.
