Family Group Conference” More Present is BiH

Two years ago in our country the implementation of a new model of social services called “Family Group Conference” began, which was previously known and used in Europe and throughout the world.

From the beginning, this model has shown to be very effective until now in Banja Luka and Sarajevo, where the model is being applied in over 40 family conferences.

The Association “Family Network”, in cooperation with the Cantonal Center for Social Work Sarajevo and the Center for Social Work Banja Luka lends support to families based on the model. The model is based on the idea that socially disadvantaged people can solve their social problems by using and strengthening the capacities of their families and their wider social networks, and not to wait for someone else to do this for them.

It is a model where professionals are continually present and monitor cases, but most of the responsibility is on the family that at the conference should find a way to solve their problems.

Solving the problems in this manner has been successful so far from more than 40 families in which there are more than 60 children.

Representatives of the centers for social work in Sarajevo and Banja Luka are satisfied with the model, and it is expected that there will be further successful cooperation with the Association “Family Networks”.
