The Federal Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry Kemal Hrnjić met today in Orašje with representatives of the Orašje Farmers’ Association to discuss the demands submitted by this association to the federal line ministry and the end of the farmers’ protest, after which the border crossing was unblocked.

At the meeting, it was agreed that a total of 2.5 million BAM will be paid to farmers in the next month, month and a half. Farmers began to disperse.

Minister Hrnjić pointed out during the meeting in the Government of the Posavina Canton that financial support for agricultural producers is defined by the Program of financial support in agriculture and rural development for the year 2023, and that it was adopted before the appointment of this convocation of the Federal Government, and that within the framework of the public debate all interested parties had the opportunity to submit proposals regarding the definition of the amount of financial support for certain productions.

At the meeting, which was attended by the Prime Minister of the Government of Posavina Canton, Đuro Topić, and the Minister of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, Mate Brkić, it was agreed to provide funds to support wheat producers whose crops were damaged due to weather conditions and whose yield was reduced.

It was agreed that the federal line ministry will help agricultural producers of wheat within the redistribution of funds, which will not affect allocations for other productions, and that the Government of the Federation, through the fulfillment of legal terms and conditions, will fulfill its obligation.

“This conversation represents a step forward and we, as the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, are committed to preserving production in this area and dedicated to supporting our agricultural producers,” Minister Hrnjić said after the meeting.

Minister Hrnjić asked the agricultural producers to unblock the roads in order to normalize the lives of the people who live, work and travel there, and to continue discussions regarding the demands within the framework of the competent institutions, according to the statement of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry, Fena reports.
