Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić and Deputy Prime Ministers Toni Kraljević and Vojin Mijatović met today at the headquarters of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo with the delegation of the Government of Hungary led by Minister Gergely Gulyás.

The Hungarian delegation included ministerial commissioner and member of the European Parliament Ernő Schaller-Baross and Hungarian ambassador to our country Krisztián Pósa.

The focus of the meeting was Hungary’s support for our country’s approach to the European Union and the strengthening of economic cooperation.

Prime Minister Nikšić informed the Hungarian delegation about the developments made recently with the adoption of important laws that are a condition for the opening of negotiations for BiH’s entry into the EU.

“We face numerous challenges, but it is precisely thanks to the policy of compromise, agreement and mutual understanding, and the relationship we have built that when we agree on something, we honor it, we manage to move things from a deadlock, and after seven or eight years there has been no progress “, Prime Minister Nikšić said.

He emphasized that one of the greatest interests of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the intensification of economic cooperation and the attraction of Hungarian investments to our country, which he also emphasized in the meeting with the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, in June of this year in Sarajevo. He expressed gratitude for Hungary’s partnership with this year’s Tešanj – BiH 2023 International Trade Fair, which will be held at the end of September.

Minister Gulyás said that the Western Balkan region is very important to Hungary, and he expressed the expectation that the countries of this region, which are not yet members of the EU, will become so as soon as possible. He added that Hungary is of the opinion that countries that do a good job of meeting the requirements of European integration deserve to speed up the process of their approximation to the EU. He thanked for the invitation for Hungary to be a partner country of the Trade Fair in Tešnje and emphasized that Hungarian companies are looking for investment opportunities in our entire region.

The interlocutors agreed that it is very important to take advantage of opportunities for economic development, and Prime Minister Nikšić and Deputy Prime Ministers Kraljević and Mijatović expressed the expectation that Hungary, especially in its upcoming presidency of the EU Council, will continue to support our country’s European path.

On this occasion, Minister Gulyás invited the Prime Minister and members of the Government of FBiH to visit the Prime Minister and the Government of Hungary, underlining that this country is one of the greatest friends of BiH and the Western Balkan countries, and that it is always ready to help them, the Office of the Government of FBiH for Relations with the public.
