Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nermin Nikšić, met today at the headquarters of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo with the delegation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, led by Mission Chief, Alina Iancu.

The officials discussed economic forecasts, expected risks, priority structural reforms and a possible new arrangement with the IMF.

Chief of the IMF Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alina Iancu, stated that the economic situation in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is favorable, and Nikšić agreed with this statement.

“When it comes to the new arrangement with the IMF, we know that the IMF concludes arrangements only with the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are part of Bosnia and Herzegovina and we do not behave in such a way that someone in our country is worse off and someone is better off. We will consider all options and work in the direction of what is in the best interest of our country,” said Nikšić.

The interlocutors agreed that among the priorities of structural reforms, a number of them are common, such as the adoption of a new law on the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing, as well as tax and public administration reforms. These are more transparent and better supervision of public companies, green energy, digitization, and certainly the continuation of what has been started and the start of new public and attracting private investments.

Nikšić did not agree with certain recommendations and clearly stated that reforms that would go in the direction of increasing bank interest rates and reducing wages are out of the question, the Press Service of the FBiH Government announced.
