FBiH Minister of the Interior Aljoša Čampara submitted a request to the Deputy Director of the FBiH Police Administration (FUP), Ensad Korman, to immediately pass a decision on the suspension of Zoran Čegar, Head of the Uniformed Police Sector in the FBiH Police Administration.

Proceedings under the jurisdiction of the head of the FBiH Police Administration were requested due to the indictment against police officer Zoran Čegar before the Municipal Court in Dubrovnik for the criminal offense of “Fraud” under Article 236 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Croatia, which is punishable by a prison sentence of up to eight years, due to falsification of notary contracts related to property in Ilijaš, as well as due to violent behavior and threats addressed to journalists of the Center for Investigative Journalism (CIN), the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.

The press release states that the FBiH Minister of the Interior, Aljoša Čampara, urged the Deputy Director of the FUP, Ensad Korman, to act by Article 114 of the FBiH Law on Police Officers, which states that a police officer will be immediately suspended “if he/she is accused of a criminal offense for which a prison sentence of at least three years can be imposed” and that the measure of suspension can be imposed if there are “grounds for suspecting that he/she has committed a criminal offense or a serious breach of official duty and if, taking into account the nature of the criminal offense or serious violation of official duty, as well as the circumstances under which the criminal offense was committed, that is, a more serious violation of official duty, can reasonably believe that it would harm the interests of the service or the internal procedure”.

FBiH Ministry of the Interior fully condemns the violent behavior of Zoran Čegar, a police officer of the FBiH Police Administration, towards media representatives, and threatening the journalists of the Center for Investigative Journalism (CIN) saying that he will “rip her throat out”, cursed her mother, insulted her and called her a “Chetnik”.

Also, the FBiH Minister of the Interior will ask the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to initiate the procedure for the dismissal of police officer Zoran Čegar from the position of President of the Police Committee of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to which he was proposed by the Deputy Director of the FBiH Police Administration, Ensad Korman.
