President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, arrived in Sarajevo today. This is the first visit by an official of the European Union after the recommendation of the Commission for candidate status for BiH, which will be one of the topics of discussion with officials in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The President of the European Commission was welcomed at the airport by BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Bisera Turković.

“An important official visit for our country. The European Union is our key partner. Citizens and the state expect additional progress through candidate status for BiH and contribution to stabilization and progress,” said Turković after the reception.

Upon her arrival in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Von der Layen met with the members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, after which it is planned that together with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zoran Tegeltija, she will open the newly built Ivan Tunnel on Corridor Vc.
